PC Help@Home has been providing Preventative Maintenance for over 20 years to our valued clients. Some of our clients have been religiously performing the Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmentation themselves with regular visits from us to perform the higher levels of Preventative Maintenance, whilst other clients have only called upon our services when things fall apart. Our findings thus far are that those that receive regular Preventative Maintenance have longer lasting computers and far fewer disasters than those that don’t. Without regular Preventative Maintenance, the call out costs can far exceed the costs of regular maintenance.
Here are some of the things included in PC Help@Home’s Preventative Maintenance;
Installed Programs: We remove non-required applications that unnecessarily slow down your computer (ie. Browser toolbars, etc)
Windows Updates: We perform all the latest required Windows Updates which include security updates, hardware driver updates and much more.
Program Update: We check that your main programs are up to date and recommend changes as better software becomes available.
Windows Registry: We scan the Windows Registry for known vulnerabilities (Viruses, Spyware, Adware and other malicious entries) and repair abnormalities.
Disk Space: We ensure your Operating System has sufficient disk space required to run smoothly.
Memory: We check that your computer has sufficient memory to suit your workload.
Disk Cleanup: We remove temporary files, Internet cache files, and other unnecessary files that can be safely deleted.
Disk Defragmentation: We check the Disk Defragmenter schedule and start the process. This helps to ensure the best file system performance.
Security: We ensure that your Firewall is sufficient and that your Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware software meets PC Help@Home’s current recommendation and that they’re functioning properly and are up to date.
Backup: We check that your backup is working.
Preventative Maintenance takes around 1 hour per computer. PC Help@Home highly recommends that Preventative Maintenance is performed every four months for increased security, optimum computer performance, to maintain your warranty, to extend the life of your desktop or laptop and to reduce overall costs.
